FAQ

I’m interested in the Diocesan Certificate of Biblical Studies, what is the course all about? Who are the lecturers? How can it help me in terms of my spiritual walk with God?
Ans:
It is a course that seeks to complement your discipleship process to provide a standardised Bible-based foundation for faith, life and ministry for everyone. Through this course, we hope participants will desire to go deeper into His Word in order to grow in their understanding of God, and learning how to live out their faith. The lecturers are Anglican clergy and lay leaders with theological training who are passionate about the Word.


There are many modules. Must I complete all of them? And what are DCBS Certificate, Letter of Attendance (LOA) and Certificate of Participation (COP)?
Ans:
If you want to obtain the Diocesan Certificate of Biblical Studies, you will need to attend all the OT and NT modules including all 4 overviews plus completing the assignments. Depending on your schedule, you can take the modules whenever you can as the different modules are currently taught at two venues.

Ans:
If you want to obtain the Diocesan Certificate of Biblical Studies, you will need to attend all the OT and NT modules including all 4 overviews plus completing the assignments. Depending on your schedule, you can take the modules whenever you can as the different modules are currently taught at two venues.

LOA – Letter of Attendance: This is awarded to students who have full attendance but who do not wish to do the assignment for each module. This is to acknowledge your interest and effort.

COP – Certificate of Participation: This is awarded to students who have a good attendance record and have completed the assignment for each module. This will lead you to the final Certificate of Biblical Studies after four years. If you receive COP, you will not receive LOA.

AND you can also choose to select certain modules because of your interest without any intention of completing the course, and we welcome you.
There are no assignments for the Overview modules.


Do you have any age limit for DCBS course, can I bring my family to attend?
Ans:
Although there is no age limit for it, the way the modules are taught (lecture style) and the coverage of the materials, the course is not suitable for children.


What are the costs of attending the modules?
Ans
: The Overview modules are $10 each and the Introductory and Book Study modules cost $20 each.
 

How do I register and how do I make payment for the different modules?
Ans:
We will need the following details for our registration database:
1. Your full name
2. Your Church
3. Service attending ie. Sunday 8am
4. Contact number
5. Email address
6. Home address (for reference, in case we need to post the certificates to you)

For payment, please arrive 10 mins earlier for the first session. Fees can be paid by cheque to “Diocese of Singapore”, please indicate module name, your name and contact number at the back. You can pay cash, but cheque is preferred.

You may like to bring your bible, a pen and paper. For most modules, printed notes will be provided.
