During our Synod Service on 13 May, the chaplains for the community services were officially appointed. A chaplain in the community services is called to shepherd the staff, the volunteers, the caregivers and the needy under the Diocesan care. As a father in God, he is to be an example of spiritual devotion that inspires and sustains our sacrificial service. He is to lead those who are so drawn by the Holy Spirit into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In prayer, and through Word and Sacrament, he is to diligently nourish the people of God with the gifts of God. In so doing, he leads the faithful to live out the life of God in the public arena.

On Sunday, 29 May 2011, at 5.00 pm in St Andrew’s Cathedral, the Revd Canon Wong Tak Meng, the Senior Chaplain of SAMH/SACS, was inducted as an Archdeacon in the Diocese of Singapore. Revd Dr Titus Chung, Revd Ong Chooi Seng and Revd Philip Sinden were collated as Honorary Canons of St Andrew’s Cathedral at the same service.
